In this month’s People Spotlight, Chairein discusses the company culture at MK, what she loves about it, and the most valuable thing she’s learned as an Operations Coordinator.

What did you study in college?

I went to school to pursue an associate degree, but I ended up graduating with five: business with an emphasis in finance, economics, hospitality, and event management.

What were you hoping to achieve with your degrees?

My goal was to become a wedding planner because I wanted to help couples on their special day. However, that career path is incredibly time-consuming and stressful, so I decided to focus on finance.

What initially attracted you to MK?

I applied to multiple administrative positions in search of a company that would welcome me and support my endeavors as a business student. Luckily, I received a call from our CEO, Har Rai Khalsa. He was enthusiastic about having me join the MK team, which was appealing. I’m grateful to have said yes.

How did you know that MK was the right place for you?

MK provides us with everything we need. For example, our break room is fully stocked with snacks and coffee, we receive parking reimbursements, and nobody worries about bringing lunch on Fridays.

What motivates you to get up and go to work?

We’re a team of incredibly diverse individuals who want to see each other and our partners thrive. Additionally, life at MK is more than just work—we’re a family.

What’s a typical day for you like as an Operations Coordinator?

Some days I organize our Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system. Other days I conduct more administrative tasks, such as ordering office supplies, ensuring important documents are signed and stored, or scheduling performance reviews.

What do you love about working at MK?

We gather as a team to honor birthdays and work anniversaries because no milestone is ever too small to be celebrated.

What’s the most valuable lesson you’ve learned while at MK?

As Har Rai always says, “Your network is your net worth.” It’s important to create meaningful relationships with those who share the same vision and values as you. I never paid much attention to this until I joined the MK team. When I started I didn’t even have an account on LinkedIn. Now, I have 500+ connections.
