Job Description

Communications Coordinators use their passion for writing, storytelling, networking, and marketing to create meaningful connections with MK’s existing users and industry. You will work on MK’s social media, email blasts, blog, website, press releases, white papers, and E-books to spread our message. In this role, you will collaborate with MK’s marketing team to plan, strategize, and execute our content marketing strategy, and grow our audience and revenue. The Communications Coordinator will need to have a deep understanding of banking, financial services, and technology to bring to life the problems the industry faces and illuminate how MK solves these problems.

Your responsibilities include:

  • Write and organize content for regular external press releases, email campaigns, blogs, social media posts, and Newsroom publishings.
  • Write compelling stories for each of our technical Solutions, Use Cases, and Products, as well as client success stories and MK team member contributions in the industry.
  • Interview customers, employees, or partners to produce written material
  • Research and generate content for tracking customer statistics
  • Research and manage SEO keywords to maximize website traffic
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key reporters, editors, and other influential commentators
  • Monitor the media landscape and timely response to journalists’ inquiries—as well as inquiries from other outlets or organizations about MK news stories
  • Coordinate logistics around media interviews, media lists, executive speaking engagements, etc.
  • Run major product launches and sustain product momentum campaigns
  • Proofread all marketing materials to ensure correct grammar and brand consistency
  • Administer MK’s social media management tools to schedule, post, and engage our audience at optimal times of day
  • Effectively leverage Google Analytics and Social Media Management tools to measure online engagement across all platforms (e.g. Website, MailChimp, LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and Crunchbase)

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Technical Writing, Pubic Relations, or a related field
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience with editing and QA processes; ability to accept feedback with a desire to constantly improve
  • 2+ years' industry experience as an effective communications coordinator
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail
  • Must be self-directed and able to accomplish tasks independently
  • Ability to quickly grasp complex technical concepts and make them easily understandable in text and visual communications
  • Is located in San Diego
  • Can read, speak, and write fluently in English

Preferred Qualifications and Skills:

  • Credit Union or Banking Industry experience
  • Understanding of search engine algorithms and ranking methods
  • Experience improving SEO ranking of company digital media
  • An up-to-date, working knowledge of current, past, and projected trends in the SEO industry
  • Has the ability to travel
